RECORD BREAKING JOHN FOSTER MAKES IT TO TOP 5 ON AMERICAN IDOL AND NOMITED FOR CMA RISING COUNTRY MUSIC ARTIST OF THE YEAR EVEN STILL IN THE COMPETION

American Idol Season 23 has revealed its Top 5 after two more hopefuls were eliminated Sunday night (May 11).

Season 23 of American Idol is quickly coming to a close. With only one week of competition left until a new champion is crowned, every performance is a crucial chance for the hopefuls to convince America that they deserve to win.

During Sunday’s Disney Night and Mother’s Day episode, the remaining seven contestants had the opportunity to sing twice: Once with a song dedicated to their moms and again with a cover of a Disney movie hit.

Filmed at Disneyland, the contenders were mentored by actor, playwright, and Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda. The Disney songs each hopeful performed were leaked ahead of the episode.

While the Disney songs brought a lighthearted feel to the episode, the song performances for the moms delivered plenty of emotion.

The songs each of the Top 7 performed in honor of their moms were:

Breanna Nix – “Like My Mother Does” by Lauren Alaina

Jamal Roberts – “A Change Is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke.

Mattie Pruitt – “Those Kind Of Women” by Lauren Alaina

John Foster – “Believe” by Brooks & Dunn

Slater Nalley – “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right” by Bob Dylan

Thunderstorm Artis – “Out Of The Blue” by Thunderstorm Artis

Gabby Samone – “Home” from The Wiz

As in weeks past, the voting window opened at the beginning of the show and closed during the final commercial break. Fans were given two hours to vote for who they would like to see advance to the Top 5. The two contestants who didn’t receive enough votes to advance were eliminated.
