The search for 10-year-old Dulce Victoria ended in heartbreak after two long and painful days. The young girl, who went missing after falling into the Lerma River, was found lifeless on Saturday morning—shattering hopes for a miracle and casting a deep shadow of sorrow over the community of Salamanca.

The tragic news was confirmed in an official statement from the Salamanca Municipal Government: “With profound respect, we regret to inform the public that the body of a 10-year-old girl who fell into the Lerma River in the community of Pitayo last Thursday has been recovered.” The message also extended heartfelt condolences to Dulce’s grieving family and emphasized the administration’s commitment to approaching such tragedies with dignity and care.
Dulce’s disappearance had triggered a large-scale emergency response involving multiple agencies. Search and rescue teams from nearby municipalities—including Irapuato, Pueblo Nuevo, and Huanímaro—joined forces with divers, the Salamanca Fire Department, the Red Cross, and Civil Protection units. The tireless efforts, led in part by Liborio Vázquez and the devoted Salamanca Rescue Brigade, ultimately located Dulce’s body. While the outcome was devastating, it brought much-needed closure to the anguished search.
